Ebook About
The life goals have stacked up since I started this journey as a sad, lonely little ghost. I’m not sure how things escalated so quickly from trying to be seen and heard, to bearing the weight of the world on my vain little shoulders. As a result, my goals have gotten a little more serious…Goal #14: Learn to take a hit without breaking or suffering some type of death.Goal #15: Decide once and for all if I’m going to save or destroy the world. I’m not sure why people put this sort of responsibility on hell-spawn like me.Goal #16: Practice my evil laugh, because all hell-spawn need a good evil laugh.Goal #17: Find and kill all the unicorns. Mwahahahahaha.Goal #18: Live to enjoy forever with the guys I sacrificed all my memories to save.Goal #19: No matter what, they don’t get to die. Or I really will be THE Apocalypse. We’re the most screwed up collection of antiheroes the world has ever seen, because the only thing that makes me want to save the world is knowing I could lose my boys forever if I don’t. It’s one HELL of a love story, you know?**Sexual Content.**Language Warning.**Dark humor.**Reverse Harem.**Series FINALE. (Read in order: Four Psychos, Three Trials, Two Kingdoms, and One Apocalypse. This book cannot be read as a stand-alone.)

Book One Apocalypse (The Dark Side Book 4) Review :

I loved this series, right up until the end, and now I almost wish I hadn't read it at all.SpoilersI read books for the romance and HEA, not for the action/adventure side of things, and the ending just made it all mean so much less. When the original Paca and her horsemen died and were reborn, they got to develop a new love. But then the Paca of this series dies, and her horsemen fall instantly in love with a new incarnation of her? And one who is so pathetic by comparison? I think that she would be happy she got to die and keep them safe and the plans all worked out. But I hate that all sense of romance died with her and they don't care as long as this one is the new Paca. Up until the end, this series was 5 stars, or more. But I wanted the original Paca to have worked out how to use the new one and bring her back too, not have her come back as a clumsy pale imitation.
This is a hard one to review, and I’m disappointed to only give it four stars instead of the five that all the others in the series received. I loved most of the book, but due to the ending I can't give it a full five.Be warned that there are spoilers throughout this review. If you’ve made it this far in the series I’m assuming you’ve already decided whether or not to read the fourth book, and have just finished it and are looking at reviews. As a reverse harem this book mainly focuses on the relationship between the heroine and her heroes, so some of the plot falls to the wayside or isn’t given as much attention as it would get in another genre. Ironically enough, where reverse harems usually fail is with the romance and realism of the relationships, but the relationships between Paca and the guys are always amazing. They’re constantly evolving throughout the novel, and I love watching it progress. I do wish there had been more detail with the plot, however. The world that Kristy Cunning created for this story was intricate, and to really be able to flesh it out and do it justice would have made it similar in size to the Harry Potter series. Something that obviously isn’t feasible considering the genre. One of the major draws to this series, other than the amazingly realistic relationships, is the humor that is peppered throughout the novel. So many of the quotes and scenes make me laugh out loud. They can be crazy ridiculous, but it fits the story well.So now we get to what caused me to rate this as four stars instead of five. The ending. I have really mixed feelings about the ending. On one hand, I feel like it fit with the series. Jahl was so hyped up that to fight him with no casualties or real damage would be unrealistic. My complaint mainly stems from our third version of Paca. I was fine with her introduction and initial meeting with the guys…all the way up until they all fall in love with her immediately and she doesn’t regain her memories. The second Paca was the one that we followed all through the four books and became invested in, and at the end I didn’t want to accept this new one. I kept hoping that there was a loophole, and that once all four guys have given her their love again her memories would return. Maybe if we followed Paca 3.0 through another novel I would like her more, but it almost felt like the guys had moved on to another woman because she was so far removed from the second Paca’s personality. It almost felt like the second Paca never really got her happy-ending relationship with the guys, and that the third Paca just stepped in after all her hard work breaking them down.I probably shouldn’t be writing this review immediately after finishing the book. My discontent with the ending is still really fresh in my mind, so I feel like more of this review has been about the bad rather than the good. I still loved it, and I’ll be revisiting it in the future, but I think when I do I’m going to pretend that the reincarnation of Paca got all of her memories back, and that she’s finally found a balance in her relationship with the guys.
